It's confirmed… Saturday
August 13th is Aviation Day. The Warplane Heritage Museum
's great aircraft will be here and proceeds from the event
will be donated to support the museum. The Canadian Forces
will also have aircraft on display and a few more surprises!
Mary Lou Schaefer is coordinating the planning effort, and
volunteers are needed…So get involved and help make
the 2005 edition even better than last years.
Posters promoting the day
are available at the flight center, so if you can put one
or more up at work, clubs or stores in your area, that would
help a lot… Call Dispatch or email Robin & we will
be back in touch with you…. robin@wwflightcentre.com

A new feature at this year's
event is a silent auction….We are looking for donations
(or the cash to purchase something) of items to auction off…
If you have an aviation related item that you or your company
would like to donate, give Robin a call 648 2213….
This annual gathering at
6:00 PM on Aviation Day is sure to be a great time again this
year! Tickets will be on sale at the club in a few days, so
reserve your seats early…

More info will be

Cadets
Seventeen cadets on the
annual power scholarship program are training at WWFC . They
started July 4 th and will be with us until August 17 th .
Here they are on day 1.

Welcome to Kevin Brighton,
Simon Towey, Jenn Bunghardt, Tim Doherty, Matt Engelmann and
Tomas Chmielewski who have recently joined our instructing
team. Kyle Green & Lindsay Marshall have joined our front
desk dispatch staff.
The recent tour of the
Toronto ATC terminal control center provided 20 of our members
with a great opportunity to see the ATC environment first
hand. Ten members came out to the aircraft ownership seminar
put on by Anna Pangrazzi & Bruce Musgrave of Apex Aircraft
Sales Ltd. along with Tim Berrington of PSA Insurance. And
14 members took part in the WWFC Golf Tournament followed
by BBQ at Beaverdale Golf Club.
Doors Open Waterloo on
September 17 th is part of a province-wide initiative of the
Ontario Heritage Foundation. WWFC is one of some 50 properties
which have historical significance for the area that will
be open to the public on that day…

WWFC and Conestoga College
worked together to promote the Diploma Program at a booth
during the June 24 to 26 show at the Oshawa Airport . Lindsay
Marshall, Warren Turk and Rob Brunnenmeir staffed the booth
for us.

Peter
Griffioen, our Director of Maintenance has the following tips:
The club ramp has new Parking
Lines.. somewhat closer together in order to accommodate more
aircraft, so watch those wingtips!
Be sure to check for proper
airspeed indication on your takeoff roll… At this time
of year, bugs can become stuck in the pitot tube causing “no
airspeed” indication…
Walk Around Checks.. Check
landing & nav lights even in the daytime, so if a replacement
bulb is needed, it can be done before nightfall.
One of the causes of radio
‘failure' is Finger Trouble…. Accidentally mis-selecting
an audio panel switch…Check it out!
7:30 AM to 9 PM -- 7 days
A reminder that pay parking
has been in effect since June 10th. Club members park for
free on the south side of the building providing
they display their membership card on the dashboard. |
