It's confirmed… Saturday August 13th is Aviation Day. The Warplane Heritage Museum 's great aircraft will be here and proceeds from the event will be donated to support the museum. The Canadian Forces will also have aircraft on display and a few more surprises! Mary Lou Schaefer is coordinating the planning effort, and volunteers are needed…So get involved and help make the 2005 edition even better than last years.

Posters promoting the day are available at the flight center, so if you can put one or more up at work, clubs or stores in your area, that would help a lot… Call Dispatch or email Robin & we will be back in touch with you…. robin@wwflightcentre.com

Maintenance Matters

Peter Griffioen, our Director of Maintenance has the following tips:

The club ramp has new Parking Lines.. somewhat closer together in order to accommodate more aircraft, so watch those wingtips!

Be sure to check for proper airspeed indication on your takeoff roll… At this time of year, bugs can become stuck in the pitot tube causing “no airspeed” indication…

Walk Around Checks.. Check landing & nav lights even in the daytime, so if a replacement bulb is needed, it can be done before nightfall.

One of the causes of radio ‘failure' is Finger Trouble…. Accidentally mis-selecting an audio panel switch…Check it out!

Spring & Summer Hours

WWFC is launching a new 6 week Multi IFR program this September. The program will enable students to obtain their initial Group 1 IFR by combining intensive groundschool, sim sessions and aircraft training components. YKF is ideally situated for IFR training, with 4 of its own approaches as well as more that 10 other airports with IFR capabilities within 50 NM.
