Schools & Community Groups

The Waterloo Wellington Flight Centre (WWFC) is committed to promoting aviation within our community.  As part of that commitment we have developed several tours to introduce various groups within the community to the wonder and thrill of flying!

Whether you are looking for an educational platform for your students or are a general interest group with a love of flying, there is something for everyone.  Check out our Junior Aviator Tour or our Science of Flight Tour. WWFC also has tours to answer your questions about how you can “learn to fly”.

Community and General Interest Tours

Junior Aviator Tour - 1 hour
The perfect tour for little ones (ages 4-6)!  A one hour tour that includes a tour of the Flight Centre, apron and hangar; little ones will get to see an airplane close up and learn the basics of how an airplane flies.
Note: Proper ratios required (adult supervisors to children).

Learn to Fly Tour - 1 hour
This one hour tour includes a guided tour of the Flight Centre, apron and hangar area, complete with a walk around and introduction to some of our various aircraft.  The tour finishes up with a short presentation on “Learning to Fly!”

Learning to Fly Premium Tour - 1 Hour tour plus 40 minute Introductory Flight
This tour has everything you will find in the “Learn to Fly” tour, but with the added thrill of a 40 minute Introductory Flight!  After you are introduced to what is involved in ‘learning to fly’, why not try out the real thing.  This tour is great for smaller groups!

Come Fly With Us! Tour (1 hour tour plus Local Scenic Flight)
An excellent tour for those groups with a love for flying!  Our “Come Fly with Us” tour includes a guided visit of the Flight Centre, apron and hangar, and a close up introduction to some of our aircraft, as well as refreshments.  While enjoying your refreshments, you will be introduced to some local highlights and this will be followed by the grand finale of the tour - a half hour Local Scenic flight of the Waterloo Region.

Air Cadet Familiarization Flight Days
Local Air Cadet Squadrons are invited to look to Waterloo-Wellington Flight Centre for their annual/semi-annual “Familiarization Flight” days!  With an instructor base that meets all ACL requirements, we have been the host for these events in the past with great success!

Educational Tours – Curriculum Based

Grade 6 Science of Flight Field Trip - 2 hours
This 2 hour tour was developed based on the Grade 6 curriculum and meets the criteria for the Science of Flight unit for that grade.  It includes a classroom presentation on the four forces of flight, and provides the students with an opportunity to explore the basic theories of flight-hand on.  The students also have a tour of the Flight Centre, apron, and hangar and get an up close and personal introduction to some of our aircraft. This tour is also perfect for Scouts and Girl Guides working on meeting the requirements for their Aeronautics badge.
